Emergency Response agencies and many others, participated in an exercise with Kewaunee Power Station on December 4, 2007.

The exercise consisted of full activation of Manitowoc County's Emergency Operations Center (EOC), located at the Sheriff's Department.

Aside from the EOC activation, agencies also simulated the opening of Manitowoc County's Reception Center, located at the Manitowoc County Highway Commission, 3500 State Highway 310, Manitowoc .

Both portions of this exercise were evaluated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).  Manitowoc County participates in nuclear power plant exercises with both Point Beach Nuclear Power Plant and Kewaunee Power Station.  These exercises give county agencies the opportunity to test their plans and procedures to more effectively respond to nuclear emergencies as well as any type of emergency or disaster that the county may face.
